When it comes to horror movies, people’s opinions vary. Yet, modern scientists confirm that watching them is not such a bad idea, as there are real benefits to indulging in this movie genre. There are also different topics for a horror film. There are ones focused on ghosts, paranormal activities, even time travel, so there is something for everyone to appreciate. It might interest you to know there’s also a decent amount of horror movies focused on college students. It was in college that I fell head over heels in love with horror so I felt that the best way to celebrate this was to feature where the two have been combined. In this article, we discuss 5 of the top horror movies about college students.

1. Happy Death Day (2017)

At the very top of our list is the movie Happy Death Day. While it was released in 2017, it is still a nice movie to watch. Some fans of the original might be more focused on the upcoming “Happy Death Day 3,” but while you wait, you might want to go over the first movie for nostalgia’s sake or to just pass the time.

 

The movie follows the story of a College Tree who is murdered but keeps coming back to life until she can figure out who her murderer is. To be honest, this movie isn’t that scary; however, it’s quite thrilling to watch, so perhaps you and your friends can enjoy it one spooky movie night. 2. Scream 2 (1997)

3. Cabin Fever (2002)

In this movie, which was released in 2002, a group of college students is planning how to spend their holiday. Rather than plan to visit Disney, go to the beach, or at least travel to some fun and safe destination, they instead decide to go to a cabin in the woods, where nothing goes wrong. Well, if you’re familiar with horror movies, things go wrong, and soon the group is faced with bacteria that feeds off the flesh and is spreading through the group of friends. With things escalating to bloody levels, they soon have to fight for their lives.

4. Urban Legend (1998)

Many horror stories and movies of today are based on one urban legend or the other. This movie, Urban Legend, is no different and does so very well. Even though it was released in 1998, it still has enough jump scares that will leave you sleeping with the lights on.

 

The whole plot of the movie follows a particular college student named Natalie. After a string of murders occurs on her campus, she comes to the realization that the murders are being heavily inspired by urban legends and must whoever the killer won’t stop killing until he’s stopped.

5. Truth or Dare (2018)

To wrap up this list, we’ll be focusing on a movie more recent, titled “Truth or Dare.” The plot of the movie surrounds a group of college friends who decide to play the game of truth or dare. However, this version of the game is far different from what you might be familiar with, as everyone who plays this game ends up being cursed in the process.

 

You’ll likely enjoy this movie, so try to find the free time to watch it.
