Ongoing Submissions: Not Another Lit Mag

Payment: $15 per contribution
Theme: Film parodies of the 90s and early-2000s such as Scream (1996), Not Another Teen Movie (2001), Shrek (2001), Another Gay Movie (2006), and more, cement the idea that old tropes and references can be recreated into something new and fresh.

READING PERIOD

Not Another Lit Mag reads year round. The magazine publishes quarterly. Publication dates appear below. Decisions for subsequent issues are made the tenth of the previous month.

GUIDELINES

Please review our background page to get an idea of the work we aim to publish.

Email your submissions to [email protected] and title the subject of your email as SUBMISSION-LAST NAME (for example, “SUBMISSION-SOTO”).

With your submission, include a brief third-person biography. You may include a cover letter (if you’re into that).

If your work is accepted elsewhere, please respond to your original email to withdraw from consideration. Individual queries, pitches, collaborations may be sent to the same email or through the contact form.

Book Reviews – We seek book reviews that praise contemporary writers. The publication of the collection of poems or stories under review must be recent (published within the last ten years). Please keep reviews to no more than 1000 words.  Submit entries as a .doc or .docx file.

Flash Fiction – Send up to three unpublished pieces. Please limit each story to 750 words. Submit entries as a .doc or docx file.

Poetry – Send up to five unpublished poems.  Submit entries as a .doc or .docx file.

STANDARDS

​We don’t want to see the use of bigoted, violent language or trivialization of people’s experiences, especially experiences of marginalized people. This is not an exhaustive statement.

PAYMENT

We pay $15 per contribution. Payment will be sent upon your confirmation of the terms of acceptance. Payments will be made via PayPal. Details will be included in the acceptance letter.

A NOTE ON PAYMENTS
Although Miguel would love to pay artists more for their creative labor, this is what he can sustainably offer. Rates will increase based upon the profit of sales in our future pop-up store.

FIRST PUBLICATION
​RIGHTS

Not Another Lit Mag requests firs-time electronic publishing rights. All rights to your creative work revert back to you. If your work appears in subsequent publications, please include first publication acknowledgements to Not Another Lit Mag. Standard lit mag things.
