With her hauntingly beautiful reimagining of archetypal monsters from classic horror, Anne Rice was the undisputed queen of contemporary gothic literature. Her contribution to the movement first established by Shelley, Stoker, and Stevenson revitalized and continues to inspire dark fiction writers and readers. Dancing in the Shadows pays tribute to Rice’s legacy with tales from today’s most innovative authors, drawing from the darkness where vampires and witches, mummies and rougarous, spirits and demons move to the music of nightmares.

Buoni, Holley Cornetto, Stephanie Ellis, Douglas Ford, Lee Andrew Forman, Holly Rae Garcia, KC Grifant, Greg Herren, Christine Lajewski, Tim Mendees, Scotty Milder, Kristi Petersen Schoonover, E. F. Nothing is as it seems.
Your reflection beckons you through the looking glass. Step through the cracks and travel paths where the darkness twists familiar shapes, where the once safe havens are overrun with danger, and the mundane objects of your life are forever changed.
Twenty authors share their view of the world through the shattered and splintered shards of their imaginations. Where does perception end and reality begin?

Take a journey through Michael Carter’s boneyard by way of thirty-five bite-sized flash fictions. All with a speculative bent, the tales explore the magical and the real, outdoor life and the American West, delve into the psychology and horrors of crime, correction, and rehabilitation, and provide a glimpse of the end of the world as we know it. What else is waiting to be uncovered in the boneyard? There’s only one way to find out. Proceeds from corporate retail distributors (e.g., Amazon, B&N) will be donated to the Shriners Children’s Hospitals in Spokane, Washington, & Galveston, Texas, USA.

All profit from the sale of this book in 2022 will be going to children’s charities in the UK.

“Lesson number one: don’t get attached to anyone. Being a cannibal is the only way to truly succeed in this business.” He placed one hand on the door handle, then thought a moment and smiled to himself. “The problem is, once you take a bite, it will never be enough.”
After a fortuitous encounter at a local book convention, a liberal arts graduate accepts a position at a flashy publishing company under the tutelage of its charismatic owner only to learn that the press is led, and fed, by a literal boogeyman.
from Michael Arnzen, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Licker and 100 Jolts – “Rowland tells an exceptionally tight and fast-paced tale about a unique legendary creature stalking the modern publishing industry”
from Tim Murr, Stranger With Friction – “Rowland has a narrative mastery that makes you feel as if a good friend is pulling you in close to tell you some special secret…You’ll be left shook”
from L. Stephenson, author of The Goners – “With genderqueer horror fiction clawing its way to center stage, Rowland’s tale is a transgressive mindfuck that will leave you irreparably unnerved”
Rome may have fallen, but its greatest hero still fights.
Once a fearsome gladiator, Anton’s life changed upon receiving the kiss of a vampire. Now the enforcer of the supernatural world, Anton’s job is to protect the secret world hidden within our own. But not all monsters are willing to lay low—some passionately yearn for a return to the good old days when they fed openly and dominated humanity. These diehards will go to any lengths to achieve their goal, even if it means destroying Anton. But Anton guards a terrible ancient secret, and those foolish enough to challenge him soon discover there are things even monsters fear.
The Name of Fear Collection contains three stories featuring Anton’s exploits:
- The Name of Fear
- Blood Mania
- Anton and the Cosmic Fury of the Old One
