Taking Submissions: Orbital Hearts
Orbital Hearts Deadline: December 15th, 2011 Payment: a portion of the profit on the digital sale of the Anthology, on a per story royalty basis. The theme for our next anthology is Tragic/Unrequited/Conflicted Relationships. The deadline for stories is December 1st, 2011. You will hear back from us by December 15th, 2011, if we are interested in your work. From the Editor: The next anthology is entitled “Orbital Hearts.” We’re looking for tragic romances, hopeless relationships, unrequited love and (of course) broken hearts. Don’t misread this! Although we want stories that revolve around dysfunctional romantic couplings, we are only interested in stories that also contain “elements of the fantastic.” This anthology is open to submissions from just about ANY genre you can imagine that fits the theme – and we hope to get many submissions that cross over genre boundaries. Try to avoid cliches that rely on weird pairings as their primary theme; we want tragedy, drama, and originality. Surprise us, entice us and woo us into a destructive angst-inspired spiral with your words! NOTE: Sexual content that's integral to the plot of your story is acceptable, but please do not submit erotica or anything that would be illegal in real life. These stories should be up to 7,500 words. Payment is a portion of the profit on the digital sale of the Anthology, on a per story royalty basis. Send your story and cover letter (with a short bio and your contact info) in the body of the message to our anthology email. Please put Submission: The Title-Your Last Name-The Genre in the email’s subject line. PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for anthology submissions is December 1st, 2011, and we will get back to you by December 15th, 2011, at the latest, if we are interested in your story. All...

Taking Submissions: Redneck Zombies from Outer Space
Redneck Zombies from Outer Space Deadline: December 31, 2011 Payment: Five-cents per word Title: Redneck Zombies from Outer Space Edited by Michael Knost and Jonathan Maberry Submission period ends: December 31, 2011 Please do not check on status until after March 31, 2012 Publisher: Woodland Press Publishing Date: Fall 2012 Word count: Up to 2500 words Payment: Five-cents per word Send submissions as an RTF attachment to: [email protected]. Come up with a story that would fit the anthology title: Redneck Zombies from Outer Space. Don't just take the obvious idea and run with it, come up with a story you are pretty sure no one else will submit. Keep in mind that stories should include a strong plot, well fleshed out characters (no pun intended), and humor. Stories DO NOT have to include zombies or rednecks for that matter. This is intended to be a fun read, not bust-a-gut humor with every sentence. The plot should not be a setup for a joke at the end. The ideal story will be a good, solid one that has that classic B-movie genre feel to it…with humor sprinkled in. Again, you won't necessarily need a zombie in your tale, or rednecks for that matter, but you will need to keep the theme of classic B-Movie science fiction/Horror in mind. Also, please title your story as a B-Movie (Science Fiction or Horror) classic. i.e.: "I Married a Zombie from Outer Space." Please keep the story clean of profanity and/or adult content. No reprints or simultaneous submissions. Please make sure your name, address, phone number, and email is listed on the first page of the manuscript. As for formatting, make sure to double-space lines, ad italics where you want italics, included only one space after a period.
Taking Submissions: Night Terrors Anthology
Night Terrors Deadline: December 31st 2011 Payment: $20 The submission period for this project is 1 September 2011 through 31 December 2011 inclusive. Please read these Project Guidelines in conjunction with our General Submission Guidelines to improve your chances of acceptance. “Night Terrors” will be a short fiction anthology featuring horror stories written by established and upcoming writers from around the world. “Horror stories” are defined as stories that will make the reader’s skin crawl and have them checking under their beds before they go to sleep. We are not concerned if the stories mix genres or if they are set in our world, the future, the past, on another planet or are set in another world altogether. As long as the story is creepy, we are interested in reading it. We are not interested in reading horror stories filled with blood and gore just for the sake of it. The anthology is due for release in paperback and various digital formats in March 2012. Submissions received before or after the dates stated above will not be considered. To submit your story click here.
