Tales from the Grave An Anthology of True Ghost Stories is an anthology of personal ghost stories. Think about what made a chill run down your spine when the lights were off and you were home alone in the dark.

What We Want
We are looking for first hand ghost accounts between 4,000 and 7,000 words pertaining to a personal experience or a story told to you, a family member, or a friend. Any plot that is ghost themed is acceptable except for sexual content including, but not limited to rape, and sexual torture of any kind. Remember that everyone likes a true ghost story.

How Your Stories Should Be Sent
All entries MUST be a .doc file. The text must be 12pt Garamond single-spaced please indent paragraphs with one hit on the tab key.
Emails with submissions sent in any other format will be replied with a request to convert the file into a .doc format.

Title, Author’s Name, Word Count, and Author’s Email MUST be on the first page of the document.
The stories should be edited to the best of your ability, but they will be looked over for any missed grammatical errors.

The story should be single-spaced with as little formatting as possible.

What we are looking for:

Stories that will chill your bones! We are looking for 31 flash fiction stories that take place during the madness of Halloween night. Stories can also be scary stories to tell to children around a camp fire. Have fun with the stories and let’s bring the fun of Halloween back! Please try to keep the stories kid friend, but is not required to submit.

Stories must be 1,500 words or less (firm.) Multiple submissions are Okay, but only 2 stories from one author will be accepted.

Payment

This is a for-the-love project. Contributors will receive exposure only.

Rights:

We ask for non-exclusive rights to print story in the anthology and keep it in print for as long as there is a demand for it. Re-prints will be accepted only if the author holds all necessary rights.

How To Submit:

Send submissions to [email protected] with “31 Nights Submission (story title and author name)” in subject line. Please attach a word document file containing your story. Please use font Time New Roman, size 12 and please DO NOT double space or use headers or page counts. Page one of the file must contain your contact information (name, mailing address, E-mail and word count) If this information is there, it makes it easier for us to contact you. Also, please attach a 100 word of less bio at the end of your story. This bio will be included in the anthology.

Submissions will be accepted until the 15th of August 2011. The target release date is the 1st of September, but will release earlier if completed.

Stories that are sexy, erotic and horrifying. Ever had a night of hot and passionate love making, only to wake the next morning in a pool of your partner’s blood? Those are the types of stories we want. Must have strong sexual content, be as detailed and naughty as possible, this is not an anthology for the younger crowd.

Stories must be 3,000 – 7,500 words in length, but will consider shorter or longer stories if well written and entertaining.

Payment:

For stories 3,999 words or below, the author will receive EXPOSURE ONLY but will be able to purchase ONE copy of the book at 40% off the price.

For stories 4,000 or above, the author will receive ONE CONTRIBUTOR COPY upon publication.

Rights:

We ask for first world print rights, in paperback and digital format, for the first year. After that time, the author may shop the work to other markets, but the work will remain in the anthology as long as there is a demand for it. No re-prints will be accepted.

Stories that deal with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, vengeful entities returning to hunt the people responsible for their deaths. Anything that stays true to the murder theme of the anthology. We do not want slasher stories, graphic scenes of torture or rape, think of the old time radio murder mysteries from the 1940’s and 50’s.
