Authors will be paid royalties and retain rights to their works as detailed in our Submission Guidelines. Submissions of new short stories should be sent to [email protected] Please review our Submission Guidelines before sending in your story! No Submission Deadline. Publication Deadline is December 31, 2011! We will only be publishing one story per week – so get your submissions in early! Please note: there is no fixed deadline! We will be accepting stories on an ongoing basis and wrapping up the project near the end of the year. With that in mind, getting your submissions in early is a good idea to help get the editorial process rolling. Assuming your submission is accepted and makes it through our editorial funnel, your story will be published on the Nevermet Press blog first and later included in the Stories in the Ether anthology in early 2012. Finally, multiple submissions from the same author are perfectly acceptable.

Taking Submissions: Redneck Zombies from Outer Space

Redneck Zombies from Outer Space Deadline: December 31, 2011 Payment: Five-cents per word Title: Redneck Zombies from Outer Space Edited by Michael Knost and Jonathan Maberry Submission period ends: December 31, 2011 Please do not check on status until after March 31, 2012 Publisher: Woodland Press Publishing Date: Fall 2012 Word count: Up to 2500 words Payment: Five-cents per word Send submissions as an RTF attachment to: [email protected]. Come up with a story that would fit the anthology title: Redneck Zombies from Outer Space. Don't just take the obvious idea and run with it, come up with a story you are pretty sure no one else will submit. Keep in mind that stories should include a strong plot, well fleshed out characters (no pun intended), and humor. Stories DO NOT have to include zombies or rednecks for that matter. This is intended to be a fun read, not bust-a-gut humor with every sentence. The plot should not be a setup for a joke at the end. The ideal story will be a good, solid one that has that classic B-movie genre feel to it…with humor sprinkled in. Again, you won't necessarily need a zombie in your tale, or rednecks for that matter, but you will need to keep the theme of classic B-Movie science fiction/Horror in mind. Also, please title your story as a B-Movie (Science Fiction or Horror) classic. i.e.: "I Married a Zombie from Outer Space." Please keep the story clean of profanity and/or adult content. No reprints or simultaneous submissions. Please make sure your name, address, phone number, and email is listed on the first page of the manuscript. As for formatting, make sure to double-space lines, ad italics where you want italics, included only one space after a period.

Taking Submissions: Night Terrors Anthology

Night Terrors Deadline: December 31st 2011 Payment: $20 The submission period for this project is 1 September 2011 through 31 December 2011 inclusive. Please read these Project Guidelines in conjunction with our General Submission Guidelines to improve your chances of acceptance. “Night Terrors” will be a short fiction anthology featuring horror stories written by established and upcoming writers from around the world. “Horror stories” are defined as stories that will make the reader’s skin crawl and have them checking under their beds before they go to sleep. We are not concerned if the stories mix genres or if they are set in our world, the future, the past, on another planet or are set in another world altogether. As long as the story is creepy, we are interested in reading it. We are not interested in reading horror stories filled with blood and gore just for the sake of it. The anthology is due for release in paperback and various digital formats in March 2012. Submissions received before or after the dates stated above will not be considered. Taking Submissions: Songs of the Satyrs

Deadline: January 1st 2012 Payment: one contributor’s copy edited by A.J.French Submission Deadline January 1, 2012 I’m happy to announce that I am editing a new anthology, which will be published by Wicked East Press. Payment will be one contributor’s copy. In addition to the contributor's copies, this anthology is offering pro rates for one story from an established writer, and $25 for three of the editor's favorite stories. We believe this is equitable as the established writer will draw readers to the work which is excellent exposure. The anthology will feature custom professional cover art, and I’ll be purchasing professional ad space once the book is in print. Review copies will go out, as well as copies to Ellen Datlow and other Best Of compendiums. The theme of this anthology is satyrs. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Dark fantasy and horror stories featuring a satyr as a main character or a character that is integral to the plot. Satyrs are mythical creatures from Greek Mythology that are half human, half goat. They follow Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, ritual madness, and ecstasy. They walk the line between the animalistic urges in us and the human capacity for thought. The human vs. the animal. Satyrs embody the two. For more on satyrs please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satyr. Urban satyrs or even just people dressing up as satyrs is of interest to me, as well. While I am mostly seeking horror stories, such as Pan’s Labyrinth and Brian Keene’s Dark Hollow, I will also look at fantasy stories set in a fantasy world, as long as they are dark. Satyrs are often characterized by their insatiable hunger for wine, revelry, and sex, so a combination of all three is strongly encouraged, but isn’t necessary. Please feel free to be original with your...
