Tell-Tale Press is looking for short stories in the fantasy, horror, mystery and science fiction genres to publish online and via Kindle. We’re looking for stories with the theme WINTER HOLIDAYS. This includes Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, Krampusnacht, New Year’s, Chinese New Year, and any other winter holidays you can think of.

Submission Period: September 1 through October 15
(General public will be September 15 through October 15)

Publication Date: December 20

500 to 5000 words as a short story only. WORD COUNT IS FINAL. NO LONGER OR SHORTER STORIES WILL BE CONSIDERED AND WILL BE IMMEDIATELY REJECTED. No poetry or audio submissions for this theme.

Extreme and erotica is allowed. Your story will be marked with an “X” for “extreme” so readers will know what to expect. Pulp-style writing is also acceptable. But please, no fanfic.

Please use standard manuscript formatting for your story. This means Times New Roman font at 12 point, double-spaced, and header with your name and contact information and word count.

Email your submission with a short bio to [email protected] with the subject being WINTER HOLIDAYS SUBMISSION – AUTHOR NAME – GENRE TYPE. Example: if you have a horror story to submit, your subject would be Winter Holidays Submission – Edgar Allan Poe – Horror

Since this is a short submission period, reprints are okay as long as the writer has legally received rights back to their story. Simultaneous submissions are also accepted because of the short submission period. Multiple submissions are okay, BUT ONLY IN SEPARATE GENRES.

500 to 1000 words (flash fiction): $5

1000 to 3000 words (microfictions or short stories): $10

3000 to 5000 words (short stories): $25

Stories will be published as text only on the Tell-Tale Press website and in genre-based Kindle bundles for sale for 99 cents on Amazon. These are the only formats they will be used for. Stories will remain online indefinitely.

Writers will retain all rights to their story and therefore can submit them to other publications or reprint them as they so desire.

Payment will be rendered via PayPal within 30 days of being published online. Please provide a valid email address for payment.
