Taking Submissions: New Horrors
July 1, 2016
Deadline: July 1st, 2016
Payment: A set net percentage royalty.
We’re looking for stories.
Scary stories!
Stories that get under the skin. Stories that stay with you and come back to haunt you once the lights go off.
We’re looking for new horrors. 21st Century horrors that reflect the way we live now. We want you to reinvent the genre – reimagine the nightmare.
And the modern world isn’t short of inspiration.
…sorry, it’s hard not to get dramatic when thinking of horror fiction. Fun though! I’m sure you get it – horror, but make it new. Though we’re not afraid of you conjuring the old masters for a bit of help.
Dead Ink will publish New Horrors as a series of subscription eBooks, so we want stories between 5,000 and 30,000 words in length. Short-to-long stories. Authors will be paid with a set net percentage royalty. We may also anthologise the series as a print book in the future.
Submissions are open world-wide, but they must be in the English language and must not have been previously published. We encourage everyone to enter and we especially like to see submissions from individuals and communities who feel that they may be under-represented or marginalised. The series is also open to both emerging and established authors.
To send your work simply attach it to an email to [email protected] and include “New Horrors” in the subject headline. Please include a short author bio with your entry too.
Entries close on the 1st of July.
