It can be about an ex-con, who's gotten out and is struggling to reintegrate into an unforgiving society. As long as it holds true to the main theme of prison, it fits. Any genre works: historical fiction, paranormal, supernatural, drama, comedy, dark noir, mystery, etc. Just make certain your story has something to do with prison or confinement (incarceration). This can include inside a mental hospital, juvenile detention, or other correctional facility. Taking Submissions: Cold Iron
Taking Submissions: Cold Iron
Deadline: September 30th Payment: £50 per included story and a contributor's copy Note: Only open to residents of Great Britain or Ireland IRON Press is seeking submissions of previously unpublished ghost stories for a new anthology, Cold Iron, to be co-edited by Peter Mortimer and Eileen Jones. We're inviting writers resident in Great Britain or Ireland to submit a maximum of two short stories (1500 to 3000 words per story) by post only please and including SAE to 'Cold Iron', IRON Press, 5 Marden Tce, Cullercoats, North Shields, NE30 4PD. Traditionally, ghost stories are pleasurably scary, suitable for telling round the hearth or the campfire, but they can incorporate serious moral themes as well as humour and romance. We share M. R. James' views that ghost stories work best when set near the audience's/readers' own time, invoking a chilling contrast between the known world and the menace of the paranormal, and that gratuitous violence should be avoided. Submit ghost stories only please - we're not looking for stories that really belong in the sci-fi cosmos, vampire crypt, zombie graveyard or werewolf woodlands. Also we're not looking for poetry or (see minimum word count) flash fiction. Closing date: 30th September 2016. Contributing writers will receive a payment of £50 per included story and one free copy of the anthology, and will be able to buy further copies at trade price. And - advance warning to those of a nervous disposition - we're already investigating some suitably spooky options for launch events in 2017. Readers’ Groups - IRON Press is keen to promote reading. We can offer you good discounts on bulk ordering of any of our titles for your readers' groups. We may also be able to put you in touch with the writers if you'd like them to visit your...

Taking Submissions: Dark Designs
Taking Submissions: Dark Designs
Deadline: September 30th, 2016 Payment: Contributor's copy We all love stories about great intellects whose work frequently crosses moral and ethical boundaries. From Cronenberg’s The Fly, where Dr. Seth Brundle drunkenly splices his DNA with an insect's while trying to perfect teleportation, to medical student Herbert West’s fanatical quest to re-animate the dead; from Dr. Moreau and his macabre island of genetically manipulated half-human beasts, to Walter Bishop manipulating and altering reality in FOX's Fringe—or the granddaddy of all “mad scientists,” Dr. Frankenstein, and his creation of Life, assembling a creature from the body parts of the deceased. These are the kinds of stories we’re looking to include in the inaugural charity anthology from Shadow Work Publishing, DARK DESIGNS. If you have a story of the fantastic, about a “mad scientist” character who is somewhat scatterbrained or altogether insane, whose practices are questionable (at best), and whose works frequently meet some sort of insidious end… then please, send us YOUR story! Length: 3000-7,500 words. For longer stories, please query first, but be aware, they have to be pretty damn good to get our attention! Considerations: Please do not submit nonfiction, fanfiction, poetry, or children's stories, as these are not the types of submissions we are looking for. What exactly are we looking for? This is a “mad scientist” anthology—so think dark fiction, twisted thrillers, and bizarre, horrifying tales of ambiguous ethics. Selection: We will choose up to 20 (but not limited to) stories for inclusion—the best of the best—through a finely tuned selection process. Please, once you submit your story, give us to the deadline date before asking if you were selected. If you submitted a story near the deadline date (better late than never, right?), please give us two weeks before asking if you were selected. Pay: This is...
Taking Submissions: Bete Noire Fall 2016 Issue
Taking Submissions: Bete Noire Fall 2016 Issue
Deadline: September 30th Payment: $10 and a digital copy February 1 - March 31 (Spring issue) August 1 - September 30 (Fall Issue) Publication will be one year after reading period. Anything sent to us outside these reading periods will be deleted unread. Fiction We here at Bete Noire are looking for stories that are well written, character driven and have a dark bent to them. We are open to most genres as long as they have a dark side. This includes horror, dark sci-fi, dark fantasy, crime, mystery or dark humor. However, vampires plus sparkle equals rejection. Please don't send us sword & sorcery or space operas. Tolkien and Lucas have their place, but not here. Also, we don't and can't accept "fan fiction" which includes anything based on a video game, book, movie or any other creator's work or conception unless you have written permission from the creator. If you don't own the copyright to the characters in your story, we cannot publish your work. By submitting to us, you, as the author of the work, accept responsibility for any possible copyright infringement. Please don't send us "Slash" or "Fem-Slash" or anything graphically describing sex. Sex is okay as long as it's integral to the story but don't overdo it. Please don't use gore for gore's sake. Again gore is okay as long as it's integral to the story. Though we cringe at the thought of violence toward children or pets, we understand that this type of violence does occur in real life, but we just don't want it in our magazine. Stories with acts of violence toward animals or children will not have a chance with us. Any story that insinuates an act of sex or sexual violence between an adult and a child will be rejected. This includes...

Taking Submissions: You Are Here Tales of Cartographic Wonders
Taking Submissions: You Are Here Tales of Cartographic Wonders
Deadline: September 30th, 2016 Payment: $15 USD Due to a lack of interest in maps (who would have thought!), we’ve extended the deadline for submissions to our annual anthology AND we are opening up submissions to everyone. Please forward wide and far. If you have a story featuring a map or maps, please consider submitting it to our anthology. Reprints welcomed! You Are Here Tales of Cartographic Wonders Maps, or graphical representations of spatial information, have shaped our world ever since people have put pen to paper, or stylus to a clay tablet, or chisel to stone. The focus of pirates searching for lost treasure or someone following a trail among the stars, maps in many guises have served humanity’s heroes and villains for a long time. What does the concept of maps inspire in you? GUIDELINES Authors are invited to submit a story with a map, or maps, playing a central or pivotal role. You are open to interpret ‘map’ however you see fit, but you can use the following definitions to rein in your imagination. A diagrammatic representation of an area of land or sea showing physical features, cities, roads, etc., a picture or chart that shows the different parts of something, something that represents with a clarity suggestive of a map (i.e. map of the mind), the arrangement of genes on a chromosome (i.e. genetic map), star charts, or the correspondence of elements in one set to elements in the same set or another set (as in mathematics). Stories must include some elements of science fiction or fantasy, but can be of any sub-genre. In addition, if you would like to submit an accompany map with your story, that is fine. But keep in mind that we may not use it. The resulting anthology may include a...

You’re a horror writer, of course it could! We are looking for politically-themed horror stories revolving around the election season. Blood on the convention floor! Death on the campaign trail! Mindless hordes following a maniacal leader! Give us your take on the creeping horrors that invade our country every two to four years. Fill it with monsters. Make it subtle and existential. Surreal, hyperreal, your choice, just scare us! What we want: Strong characters. Diversity is a plus! Examine the issues facing everyday voters and marginalized communities. Research is your friend. What we’re not looking for: Overt political screeds. You’re not here to campaign on behalf of a candidate. We’d prefer you don’t name any living figures in today’s political scene. Dead ones? Sure, but tread carefully, because we don’t want to get sued! Manuscript format: Follow the standard Shunn guidelines: http://www.shunn.net/format/story.html Also, don’t forget to include your name, byline, and contact info in the manuscript. Editors: Eugene Johnson and Michael Paul Gonzalez Format: Trade Paperback, ebook NOTE: This is a charity anthology. Taking Submissions: Skelos Journal Issue #4
Taking Submissions: Skelos Journal Issue #4
Deadline: September 30th 2016 Payment: one penny/word for stories and essays up to five thousand words long, and twenty-five cents a line for poems up to 60 lines long We will be open to submissions from September 15th to September 30th for fiction, poetry, and essays. After September 30th, we will close in order to be able to read and digest whatever comes in during that time. We will reopen for submissions again at a later date. Before you hit ‘Send’ on your email, please read and if necessary, re-read the guidelines below, as they will vastly increase your chances of being read by Mark, Chris, and Jeff, and possibly published in a future issue of Skelos. What We Are Looking For Skelos is interested in original flash fiction, short fiction, poetry, and essays in the following genres: Weird Fiction, particularly any kind of updating on the classic “weird tale.” Dark Fantasy, whether high or low or somewhere in between. Horror, anything that turns convention on its head. Sword and Planet, especially an updating or reworking of the genre. New Weird, in that broad, dark, magical realism sense of the term. Slipstream, preferably flavored with one or more of the above genres. Skelos wants material that exemplifies the above genres, not typifies them. Genre subversion is always a good thing. Anything that surprises us will be welcome as we try to redefine the Weird Tale for the 21st century. Material can be graphic, as needed, but we are not interested in erotica, hardcore sex, or romance writing. Werewolves and vampires are fine, provided you do something new and radically different with those old chestnuts. Please do not send game fiction or fiction based on another intellectual property. If you have doubts, questions, or uncertainties about any of the above, please...

Taking Submissions: Ghosts on Drugs
Taking Submissions: Ghosts on Drugs
Deadline: October 1st, 2016 Payment: 15 cents a word for the first 2,500 words and 6 cents a word after Bestselling author Hy Bender (BookProposal.net; 16 books including 5 Dummies books, a Complete Idiot's Guide, and The Sandman Companion; The New York Times, Mad Magazine) and book developer Will Paoletto (Enterprise Cometh; My Bad Parent) are putting together a short story fiction anthology titled Ghosts on Drugs. And we're inviting you to send us a story so great that we can't resist saying "yes" to it. The only rule is that a tale include some version of at least one ghost who's on some version of at least one drug. And both key terms are broadly defined—e.g., a ghostwriter hooked on cough syrup could fit, and a dead ancient god with an inhumanly intense craving to be worshipped again could too. Also, a story can run anywhere from 2 pages to 30 pages, so a short-short tale that's a solid fit for the collection will definitely be considered. We expect many of the stories will be a mix of comedy and fantasy. However, the book is also open to horror, SF, adventure, drama, etc., as well as any combination of genres. Whatever the category, we're seeking stories that are extremely entertaining, appeal to a wide-ranging audience (high concepts are especially appreciated), and provide an emotionally satisfying ending (smartly crafted character arcs/transformations are especially appreciated). We're aiming to include some of the world's top comedians, a bunch of superb writers, and one or two celebrities who happen to be drug fans. Some of the advantages of being in this anthology: Getting a credit for a book that's likely to receive substantial attention because of its cool high concept, wildly inventive range of ideas, and exceptionally fine writing. Having your name alongside...
Taking Submissions: The Dogs of War
Taking Submissions: The Dogs of War
Deadline: October 1st, 2016. Payment: ½¢ per word upon publication and a contributor’s copy FurPlanet Productions is announcing its next original short story anthology: The Dogs of War; an anthology of furry military-themed stories. Deadline: October 1st, 2016. Wanted: original short stories (no reprints) featuring furries in military situations, preferably of 4,000 to 20,000 words. Lesser will be accepted. Longer … let’s discuss it. These can range from actual warfare to peacetime training-camp scenarios (which may be humorous) to recruiting; from large division operations to small commando actions. They can range from funny-animal multispecies armies to armies of one species versus another; from fighting in animal civilizations to uplifted animal soldiers fighting in human wars. The emphasis should be on military action, not politics; but as Clausewitz defined war as “the continuation of politics by other means”, a story may be heavily political as long as military action is at least threatened. Despite the title, which is a Shakespeare reference (to Julius Caesar), we want stories with a variety of anthropomorphic animals; not just dogs. Authors who want to contribute are urged to check with me (Fred Patten) first to make sure that story ideas are not too close to others already approved. Payment: ½¢ per word upon publication and a contributor’s copy of The Dogs of War, a $19.95 anthology. Contributors may buy additional copies at a 30% discount. Send submissions to [email protected]. Via: Anthro Aquatic.

The anthology is a collection of fiction and nonfiction works that represent and reflect women’s contributions to and scholarship in the genre. The goal is to showcase female creative writing and scholarship in horror literature, culture, and entertainment. The WHA is a passion project led by two genre fans, Christine Makepeace and Rachel Katz. Christine is a former editor at Paracinema Magazine. Rachel is a former contributor to Paracinema Magazine. Taking Submissions: Phantasmical Contraptions & Other Errors
Taking Submissions: Phantasmical Contraptions & Other Errors
Deadline: October 3rd, 2016. Payment: $4 USD per 1000 words Due to high demand, we are putting together a steampunk-themed anthology. We're looking for more than just the goggles-and-gears accoutrements of what we think of as steampunk. The era of the steam engine affected much more than Victorian England, so let yourself be inspired by everything the new and amazing inventions might have touched, from the stratified class systems to the various places colonized, and then allow your imaginations to soar into worlds beyond our own. Submissions deadline, October 3rd. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Formatting a manuscript for submission is a pain. Every publication has its own rules--headers, spacing, font, file format, required information, and so on and so forth. The truth is, it's just a means of separating those authors who are genuinely serious from those who are just inundating publications with their as-yet unappreciated epic. We want to make it simple. Our submission guidelines are: Send a short query describing your work to: [email protected] If we like what we read, we'll ask for more info. If we don't, we won't. Just keep the following in mind: Make it clear. You're a writer, so that's the easy part, right? :) Include your name. (You'd be surprised how many forget.) A "short query" is probably fewer than 500 words, but use your best judgment. A full plot summary (including the ending) is helpful. Please don't send marketing copy. Word count is also helpful. We won't/can't read anything in a format we can't open or a language we can't read. Microsoft Word doc files are always a safe bet, and Apple's Pages is also good. If you're an Open Office user, please save as a Rich Text File or similar. We reserve the right to reject a manuscript or...

Taking Submissions: Curious Incidents: More Improbable Adventures
Taking Submissions: Curious Incidents: More Improbable Adventures
Deadline: October 14, 2016 Payment: Royalty split and 1 contributor's copy Mocha Memoirs Press is pleased to announce that they will be publishing another Sherlock Holmes anthology with editor A.C. Thompson! So sharpen those pencils and get ready to write. “The game is afoot!” Welcome back to Baker Street! Holmes and Watson are there to greet you once more with amazing tales of murder, mayhem, and mystery with a supernatural twist. This time the great detective and his stalwart companion will venture into alternate universes, histories, and futures to solve puzzling cases of the paranormal beyond the bounds of imagination. In Curious Incidents: More Improbable Adventures, I am looking for stories that diverge from the original canon setting of Victorian England. The adventures should be paranormal in nature, but the universe is completely open. In fact, stories set in the traditional Victorian will not be considered. Some examples of alternate settings might be: steampunk, weird west, distant future, space, ancient world (ok, so I’d just really like to see if someone could do it…), dystopian, American noir, or even modern times (BE CAREFUL WITH THIS. I CAN’T PUBLISH SHERLOCK BBC FANFICTION!). Word of warning: Sherlock is a beloved character with a very distinct voice and manner. We want to be sure that we keep and/ or expand on those attributes that have made him a literary icon. However, I am very interested in seeing diverse characters in starring roles (gender, ethnicity, etc.). The entire original canon is available on Kindle for FREE. Take advantage. This time, I’m a little more flexible with genre. I am looking for stories that will fall into the speculative fiction genre and all its subspecies (horror, sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk, magical realism, gothic horror, etc.). I’m even being adventurous this time and allowing...

Enter the I CAN TASTE THE BLOOD FLASH FICTION CONTEST and three lucky winners will receive cash prizes and have their stories published alongside those of the contributors in all digital versions of I CAN TASTE THE BLOOD sold at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and digital booksellers worldwide. Taking Submissions: Distressing Damsels
Taking Submissions: Distressing Damsels
Deadline: October 25th, 2016 Payment: Contributor's Copy Note: I apologize on the short call, just stumbled across this publisher. Hopefully someone has something socked away for it if interested. Note #2, reprints allowed Submission Period: September 25th-October 25th Word Count: 100-25,000 Theme: Due to the popularity of our Princess Fairy Tale Anthology, we are opening submissions for another fairy tale theme. For this anthology, we are looking for stories that focus on strong heroines. We want to see stories of damsels who save themselves instead of waiting for a man to do the job for them. We want Rapunzel to find her own way out of the tower, the little mermaid to shove that dagger into the prince's heart and win back her life, Snow White to shove that poisoned apple into the queen's face... you get the idea. All genres and styles are accepted as long as the story is based on an actual fariy tale. The fairy tale does not have to be well known; we love reading the obscure ones just as much as Snow White and Cinderella. We will not publish erotica in our normal monthly issues, but we do know that this is a very popular genre, which is why we are going to accept erotica submissions for anthology publication. However, please do not send us: Incest (step relations are fine), underage, or necrophilia (exception being supernatural anthropomorphic creatures/undead). No excrement/urine play. THESE EXEMPTIONS GO FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS FOR EVERY ANTHOLOGY. NO EXCEPTIONS. Response Time: Please allow up to two weeks. After that, if you don't hear from us then feel free to give us a little nudge. Payment: Compensation for the anthology will be one paperback print copy as well as a PDF. Editing: Yes, your story will be edited if we decide to accept it. After we go through and...

Taking Submissions: Reckoning #1
Deadline: November 1st, 2016. Payment: six cents a word for prose, twenty dollars a page for poetry, art minimum twenty-five dollars per piece Note: This call has been taken down at the request of the publisher due to too many submissions not following the guidelines. Submit original fiction, nonfiction or poetry as an RTF or DOC (or art, in any compact, web-ready format) to [email protected]. If you want to know what I’m looking for, read this: Or any of these. The short version: fiction preferably at least a tiny bit speculative, nonfiction preferably more creative than journalistic, poetry tending towards the narrative and preferably with some thematic heft, art your guess is as good as mine. But the heart of what I want is your searingly personal, visceral, idiosyncratic understanding of the world and the people in it as it has been, as it is, as it will be, as it could be, as a consequence of humanity’s relationship with the earth. I am actively seeking work from Indigenous writers and artists, writers and artists of color, queer and transgendered writers and artists, and anyone who has suffered the consequences, intended or otherwise, of dominant society’s systemic disconnect with and mistreatment of the natural world. And I am actively seeking new ways to reach all of the above. Seriously, if you know of a way I can do that, please share. Simultaneous submissions are ok. Multiple submissions I’d rather you didn’t. Length: 0 – 45,000 words, inclusive. Response time remains to be seen but I’ll work hard to keep it under two months. Payment is six cents a word for prose, twenty dollars a page for poetry, art minimum twenty-five dollars per piece. Arbitrary cutoff point for the first issue: November 1, 2016. Taking Submissions: The Book of Blasphemous Words
Taking Submissions: The Book of Blasphemous Words
Deadline: October 31, 2016 Payment: $15 and contributor’s copy Theme: Not so long ago, human beings were cursed with fear. They clamored for hope in a world of boundless suffering and death. They called out to the heavens and summoned gods. They crafted religions that would serve as a candle against the howling night. That which alights must also burn. A zealot spits venomous words from his pulpit, his congregation listening and nodding, their disgust with their neighbors boiling into a riotous rage. A girl returns from Bible Camp nine-months pregnant with God’s child—images of a golden flame pressing on her chest, paralyzing her, flood her nightmares. Heaven replaces its angels with automata, dispensing salvation and damnation with callous efficiency. Book of Blasphemous Words is a weird fiction, horror, and speculative fiction anthology about humanity’s relationship with its gods. When we answer the call for salvation from the bondage of the material—when we believe in gods—we reach a hand into the unknown and risk losing it to something peckish. When we forget the power of the hearth, we risk a conflagration that can return civilization to the dirt whence it has come. Simultaneous Submissions: Sure, but please let us know immediately if it was accepted somewhere else. Multiple Submissions: Yes Reprints: Yes, but let us know where it has been previously printed and make sure you have the rights to have it reprinted. Word Count: Up to 10k words. Formatting: This is a very good guide if you have any questions. You can't really go wrong with it. But, if you don't feel like reading that, here's the down and dirty of it. Italicize italics. Do not underline Don't use spaces to lead paragraphs. Use tab or, even better, the formatting options to get the indent. For scene breaks, use either "#" or "***". Use an easy to...

Deadline: October 31st, 2016. Payment: 2¢(AUD) per word. Deadline: October 31st, 2016. We're offering payment of: 2¢ per word (AUD), plus contributor’s electronic copy. Providing we cover costs with the first run, contributors will receive one (1) copy of the paperback gratis, plus theoption to buy up to five (5) additional copies at publisher's cost. Hardbacks will be produced if demand allows. What's HOT: Oz Horror Con is seeking original thriller, suspense, dark fantasy or supernatural tales 3,000-5,000 words to be published in our forthcoming 'Between the Tracks' anthology, intended publication Q1 2017. "Between the Tracks" should give you some inspiration, but please be imaginative. We don't want reprints (unless they're amazing!) or cliched tropes, re-writes of movies plots or other published works. Don't limit yourself to train tracks either. Think outside the tracks to deliver us something between the tracks. Stories should be dark, and include a train or something similar - a tram, a cart, some other kind of vehicle that requires a track. Perhaps metaphorical tracks. Whatever track your mind takes, but it must be integral to the story. This will be targeted at a mature audience, but we're not looking for sex fantasies... unless pivotal to the plot of course! For an example of the kind of story we love, read any of the stories from the editor Steve Dillon, at The Refuge Collection www.RefugeCollection.com. What's NOT: We're not after excessive gore, torture , rape, racial or other bigotry or misogyny. You can be explicit with themes and language if required for the story to work, for as long as it's required. We prefer supernatural horror, creepy tales and suspenseful thrillers than a reliance on visceral horror. Edition and Rights: Between the Tracks will be published in electronic and paperback form in English - If there's enough...

We're trying something different this time. The title is FORTY FLASHES, and the idea is that the book will contain 40 flash fiction stories - 500 words tops - in the fantasy-science fiction genres we love best. Submission for these stories will be from Sept. 1 to October 31, with publication as soon after that as we can put the book together. Payment for stories - will be $6. Well, golly, it's only 500 words, so you will receive 1.2 cents per word, which is the most we have ever paid! Arthur Sanchez is Associate Editing this project, and he has a very interesting essay awaiting you on the topic - look for it on our comment page at http://WhortleberryPress.com. Remember, a flash fiction story has the same requirements as any other story - characters, setting, complications, resolutions) - it's just all in 500 words. Have fun! Taking Submissions: The First Line – Winter 2016
Taking Submissions: The First Line – Winter 2016
Deadline: November 1st, 2016 Payment: $25.00 - $50.00 for fiction, $5.00 - $10.00 for poetry, and $25.00 for nonfiction (all U.S. dollars) and contributor's copy Note: This quarter's line: In the six years I spent tracking David Addley, it never occurred to me that he didn’t exist. We love the fact that writers around the world are inspired by our first lines, and we know that not every story will be sent to us. However, we ask that you do not submit stories starting with our first lines to other journals (or post them online on public sites) until we've notified you as to our decision (usually two to three weeks after the deadline). When the entire premise of the publication revolves around one sentence, we don't want it to look as if we stole that sentence from another writer. If you have questions, feel free to drop us a line. (Also, we understand that writers may add our first line to a story they are currently working on or have already completed, and that's cool. But please do not add our first line to a previously published story and submit it to us. We do not accept previously published stories, even if they have been repurposed for our first lines.) One more thing while I've got you here: Writers compete against one another for magazine space, so, technically, every literary magazine is running a contest. There are, however, literary magazines that run traditional contests, where they charge entry fees and rank the winners. We do not - nor will we ever - charge a submission fee, nor do we rank our stories in order of importance. Occasionally, we run contests to help come up with new first lines, or we run fun, gimmicky competitions for free stuff, but the...
Taking Submissions: NonBinary Review #11
Taking Submissions: NonBinary Review #11
Deadline: November 1st, 2016 Payment: 1 cent per word for fiction and nonfiction, and a flat fee of $10 for poetry (singular poems or a suite) and $25 per piece of visual art, payable upon receipt of the signed publication contract and contributor's copy Note: They are open to genre mashups, not sure how hard of a sell horror or suspense could be here but they don't say it isn't allowed! NonBinary Review is a quarterly digital literary journal that joins poetry, fiction, essays, and art around each issue's theme. We invite authors to explore each theme in any way that speaks to them: re-write a familiar story from a new point of view, mash genres together, give us a personal essay about some aspect of our theme that has haunted you all your life. We also invite art that will accompany the literature and be featured on our cover. All submissions must have a clear and obvious relationship to some specific aspect of the source text (a character, episode, or setting). Submissions only related by a vague, general, thematic similarity are unlikely to be accepted. Please consult the Wikipedia entry on Anne of Green Gables for a plot summarization & cast of characters, & refer to the free text of the novel available through Project Gutenberg. Submissions which do not tie into the plot or make use of characters/settings from the novel cannot be considered--there needs to be a clear connection to the source material. We want language that makes us reach for a dictionary or a tissue or both. Words in combinations and patterns that leave the faint of heart a little dizzy. FICTION, CREATIVE NON-FICTION, FLASH & HYBRID/EXPERIMENTAL NonBinary Review accepts fiction and creative non-fiction of up to 5,000 words in length, although shorter is probably better. Fiction should be double...
