CBAY Books is pleased to announce an open submission period for the upcoming YA anthology Giants & Ogres, a collection of stories featuring these classics villains from fairy tales. Like in our previous anthology, Stepmothers & the Big Bad Wolf, we are looking for stories that show these villains in new and unusual ways. Retold fairy tales are welcome, but we are also looking for tales that feature these characters in new and interesting lights. We will be selecting 5 giant stories and 5 ogre stories. Short stories focusing on either one of the villains may be up to 5,000 words and will pay $30.

All stories should be fantasy or science fiction (cross genre considered), appropriate for a 13 year old and interesting to an 18 year old.

Submissions may be made to the email address  [email protected]. Please use the subject line SUBMISSION: [YOUR STORY’S TITLE] and submissions should include your name, pen name, contact information and your complete story in the body of your email. Attachments will not be opened. All submissions must be original (no reprints) and must be received by September 18, 2015. You should receive a response to any submission confirming receipt. If you do not receive it, something has gone wrong, and we request that you send again. You may submit one giant story and one ogre story for two stories total. All stories will be selected by September 25 with contracts going out in October. The book is scheduled to publish in June of 2016.
