The First Omen

Amazing sound design, haunting story, and great build-up; that was what some of the fans reported after watching The First Omen. Nell Tiger Free played her part perfectly, which made the movie even more appealing.

Some may argue that the harrowing music and the dialogues were mediocre and didn’t justify their presence; however, those who felt chills with the plot certainly had their fair share of spine-tingling jump scares. 

Abigail

Starting as a common kidnapping story, Abigail certainly had a great twist that blew away the minds of the audience. Even though the follow-up on the plot, once the climax was revealed, was a bit tacky, it managed to pull the audience again with some gut-wrecking (literally) twists.

The movie did have potential with several reputed actors, including Melissa Barrera, Kevin Durand, Giancarlo Esposito, etc. The jump scares were amazing; however, when things settled down, it was more of a thriller than a horror.

Sting

Who doesn’t love monster movies? But hold up! If you have arachnophobia, then you better have emergency services on speed dial because this movie is about that! And there’s a lesson to be learned: never let your kids pick up a strange bug and keep it as a pet, you never know when it’ll grow into a human-eating monster!

Apart from the creepy crawlies, the movie holds gruesome moments where the arachnid monster is just tearing through flesh because of its insatiable hunger for blood. Once a pet, it’s on the hunt for the next human, and well, everyone’s for themselves in this adrenaline-pumping horror fiction.

Exhuma

I can’t rule out Korean horror movies after seeing what they can really pull off! Exhuma is certainly another exceptional take on mystery alongside horror. The plot as well as the twists added are truly mind-boggling and they’re sure to keep you on the edge of your seats.

Moreover, if you’re into supernatural and stuff, then you’ll definitely love this one. As the movie paces, you’ll find tension and suspense unfolding gradually, which will surely give a tingling sensation as if something’s about to happen to you.

Well, 2024 did produce a good lot of horror movies but I’m excited for the ones that will be released soon:

A Quiet Place: Day One

A Quiet Place was surely one nerve-wracking and intense movie that was traumatizing for some while seriously spine-chilling for others. But, one question was always left unanswered: how did it all begin?

Well, A Quiet Place: Day One will be answering this. It’s like Annabelle Creations, Alien Covenant, Prey, and others, showing how it all began. I’m really keen on knowing about how those ugly yet terrifying creatures came into existence, are you?

Alien Romulus

Another addition to the infamous Aliens franchise, Alien Romulus will be featuring the same story as always but with a horrifying twist. Like, who wants an extra-terrestrial wrapping itself around their face, making out in not a very good way (P.S. It’s actually planting alien eggs that will burst out of you when it’s born – so no)? 

Anyway, I’m waiting for this movie because the previous ones were gory enough to give nightmares and this will certainly be too!

Speak No Evil

What’s one thing that every horror movie has in common? A family residing in a countryside home for God knows what reason! Well, from the looks of it, Speak No Evil focuses on the same plot but with a twist of one-of-a-kind.

We have two families living together, sounds comfy right? But one of the family is twisted, as in cuckoo. The best part is we got James McAvoy, the master of twisted personalities, playing the antagonist or should we say, a bloody doctor!
