What We’re Looking For:

Memento Mori Ink Magazine seeks thought-provoking, non-fictional articles that explore the darker aspects of life, death, culture, and the human experience. We are particularly interested in pieces that delve into:

  • Mortality and Death: Essays that examine cultural, philosophical, or personal perspectives on death and the rituals surrounding it.
  • Gothic Culture:Analysis of gothic literature, art, fashion, and the lifestyle that embraces the macabre.
  • Dark Aesthetics: Articles exploring the beauty and significance of dark aesthetics in various forms of media, including art, film, and music.
  • True Crime: In-depth, well-researched articles on historical or contemporary true crime stories, with a focus on lesser-known cases.
  • Psychological Exploration:** Essays that analyze the darker side of the human psyche, such as fear, grief, or the allure of the unknown.

Please note that we do not accept short stories or any form of fiction. All submissions must be non-fictional and original, with a strong voice and unique perspective. You are welcome to submit your pieces elsewhere but please let us know if it is accepted, as we reserve the right to refuse previously published pieces!

How to Send a Proposal:

  1. Prepare Your Proposal: Include a brief summary of your article idea, why it’s relevant to Memento Mori Ink’s audience, and your unique angle or approach. Attach 2-3 writing samples or provide links to your published work.
  2. Attach Submission with FILE NAME as follows: LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, MMI, TITLE
  3. PAYMENT TYPE with EMAIL, WORD COUNT must be included. We pay via PayPal, Zelle, Venmo ONLY.
  4. Response Time: We aim to respond to all proposals within 2-4 weeks. If you haven’t heard from us after 4 weeks, feel free to follow up.

Please ensure your proposal is well-organized and professional. We look forward to reading your submissions!

Articles should be no more than 750 words and no less than 250 words, nonfiction only unless noted/requested.

Submissions should be in Word .doc and formatted in the following manner:

  • Font: Times New Roman 12
  • Spacing: 1.5
  • Indent first line 0.25 (do not use tab)
  • 1″ margins all around.

Please include your name and contact email address in the top left corner, and the title and your pen name centered below that.

Use the “Click to submit” to email your article.
