Please put the Story Title in the subject line, and the Author Name, Story Title and Word Count in your cover letter. Please keep cover letters short and concise and attach your story via attachment. We only accept stories in Word .doc, .docx, Rich Text Format .rtf, and Open Office .odt formats. Any other format will be deleted unread.

Things we do not accept.

• We do not accept simultaneous or multiple submissions.
• Media tie-ins or fan fiction. Think Star Trek, Dr. Who, Buffy, etc.
• While Waylines is happy to explore themes of sexuality, please take note that we are not a market for erotica.
• Horror stories that just go for the pure gross out.
• Translations. At the moment, we are only looking for original works written in the English language.

Short Film Guidelines

TIME LIMIT: under 20 mins
PAY RATE: there is no pay for films.
GENRES: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, the Weird, and the Wonderful.
LANGUAGES: any language as long as English subtitles are available
Rights: Non-exclusive rights to stream the film the Waylines website.
ACCEPTABLE FORMATS: digital only (.avi, .mp4 or videos already on youtube or other streaming video sites)
RESPONSE TIME: 30 days. We intend to reply to every submission in a timely manner but if you have not received a response within this window, please send us an email to [email protected] with the word QUERY followed by the story title in the subject line.

Please send a cover letter to [email protected]. Please put the Film Title in the Subject Line. In a cover letter, please include a link to the video (for download, or streaming at a site like youtube). We do not accept movies as attachments.

MIN LINE COUNT: No minimum line count; yes, that means haiku can be submitted, but they will be a tough sell.

Please only submit ONE POEM during each submission period. You may simultaneously submit a story and a poem to Waylines during the same submission period; do NOT send these submissions in the same email. Format your email with the subject “Waylines Poetry Submission: [title]” Include a brief cover letter in the email, stating your name, poem title, and maybe a few credits. Keep it sparse. It’s about the poem. Below that cover letter, please paste your poem. Attachments will cause an instant rejection. Submitting more than one poem at once will result in an instant rejection. Please don’t give us a reason to auto-reject you

All non fiction articles and interviews are currently dealt with internally.

At the moment all art is being dealt with in-house. That situation may change however, so stay tuned.
