HarperCollins Launches Storytide: A New Imprint for Middle Grade and Teen Fiction

New HarperCollins Imprint, Storytide, to Release 30+ Middle Grade & YA Books in 2025

A fresh wave of middle grade and teen fiction is set to hit the shelves with the launch of HarperCollins’s latest imprint, Storytide. With more than 30 books scheduled for 2025, alongside a selection of backlist titles, Storytide aims to spotlight dynamic literary voices across a range of genres, including romance, contemporary fiction, and fantasy.

Leading the imprint is VP and publisher Tara Weikum, whose extensive experience in the industry has played a key role in shaping Storytide’s vision. Weikum described the imprint’s foundation by telling Publishers Weekly, “While Storytide was taking shape, we spent a lot of time focusing on what makes each of our imprints at HarperCollins unique. As the pieces fell into place, it became clear to us that the list that became Storytide, and the editors who work on these books, share a common point of view and sensibility.”

The Storytide Vision

The imprint’s name reflects the essence of good storytelling. “The best stories ebb and flow, just as tides do—with beginnings and endings, highs and lows—and offer readers renewal, hope, and change,” Weikum explained. This philosophy will guide Storytide’s diverse selection of titles, reinforcing a belief in the transformative power of storytelling.

Weikum is supported by an accomplished editorial team, including executive editors Amy Cloud and Kristin Rens, editor Sarah Homer, and editorial assistants Christian Vega and Briana Wood. Rich Thomas, senior VP and executive director of publishing at HarperCollins Children’s Books, praised Weikum’s leadership, noting her track record of producing bestselling, award-winning, and critically acclaimed books.

A Star-Studded Lineup

Storytide’s debut list features a mix of celebrated authors and rising stars. Among them is Newbery Medalist Katherine Applegate, whose forthcoming novel The One and Only Family will be published under the imprint. “I’m so thrilled to see Tara at the helm of this exciting new imprint,” said Applegate. “She’s a dream editor: brilliant and kind, with an extraordinary understanding of the marketplace.” National Book Award finalist Katherine Marsh is another notable name on Storytide’s list.

In terms of speculative fiction, the imprint will feature That Devil, Ambition by Linsey Miller (June) and I Killed the King by Andrea Hannah and Rebecca Mix (September), catering to fantasy readers. These titles join a broader range of releases, including romance novels such as It’s a Love/Skate Relationship by Carli J. Corson (January) and The Great Misfortune of Stella Sedgwick by S. Isabelle (July), as well as The Lemonade War Graphic Novel by Jacqueline Davies, illustrated by Karen De la Vega (April).

A Grand Launch

To celebrate Storytide’s debut, a lineup of book tours and events is planned throughout the year. Notably, bestselling author Tahereh Mafi will host a midnight launch party at Barnes & Noble Union Square on April 14 to introduce her new book, Watch Me, which kicks off a new series set a decade after her Shatter Me series.

The synopsis for ‘Watch Me’ is as follows:

James Anderson had a plan. Or half of one. All that matters is that he managed to do what his older brother, the famous Aaron Warner Anderson, never did: infiltrate Ark Island, the last refuge of The Reestablishment. In the past decade no outsider has breached the stronghold of the authoritarian regime, but James is in. In a prison cell, sure, but as far as James is concerned, a win is a win.

It’s been ten years since the fall of The Reestablishment. Ten years since the notorious duo—Juliette Ferrars and Aaron Warner Anderson—led a worldwide rebellion and established the New Republic of the West. But after a decade of unsettling quiet, The Reestablishment is ready to make a devastating move, and they have the perfect person for the job.

Rosabelle Wolff had a plan. She always has a plan. On Ark Island, where constant surveillance is packaged as security, even emotions must be experienced with caution. A trained assassin, her every movement is monitored by synthetic intelligence—and when she’s given an order to kill, she never hesitates.

Brimming with pulse-pounding action and torturous romance, Watch Me is an explosive journey through a dystopian landscape where enemies-to-lovers has never felt more impossible. Step into a beloved and breathtaking world that demands an answer to a desperate question—

Who are we when no one is watching?

With its compelling lineup of authors and stories, Storytide is poised to make a significant impact on the middle grade and teen fiction landscape. As the imprint sets sail, readers can look forward to an exciting array of books that capture the imagination and inspire new generations of storytellers.
