REQUIREMENTS

• Story has never been published before.
• 2,500 – 3,500 Total Words
• Make it WEIRD or STRANGE! It can be horror adjacent, comedic, gory, fantastical.
• Please don’t send me stories with any type of sexual assault, rape, child death, transphobia, homophobia, animal death/cruelty.
• Word doc or PDF.
• Double spaced with 12 font — any font style that is legible.
• At the top of the document — your name, email, social media handles, number count.

• Email: In subject line put your story title and “SS Submission”

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH YOUR STORY?

Truborn Press is putting together their first newsletter and would like to offer a free ebook copy of a short story when folks sign up for it. Depending on the story itself and how well it does, there is a possibility of turning it into a chapbook as well in the future.

WHAT DO I GET FROM THIS OPPORTUNITY?

At Truborn Press we fully believe in paying people for their work in every aspect (author, designer, editor, etc). We want to also continue to support the indie horror community and especially shine a light on authors that are “newer” or haven’t been published from a pub house.

• Payment: $100 – $150 (depending on the length & story itself)
• Timeline: I would want a polished story by 11/15/24.
• I will cover all expenses involved with getting your short story ebook out into the world.
• If the story turns into a chapbook in the future, then the profits would be split 50/50 with you and Truborn.
• If you haven’t worked with Truborn at all [Kristina] then you get to have me pester you and force you to be my friend! (hahaha..just kidding..sort of)

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Depending on the amount of submissions I receive, I am closing up the window on October 30, 2024. Please submit only during the 10 days of the submission window. I will try my best to send out decision emails a few days after the window closes (again, depending on the amount of stories). If for some reason you don’t hear from me, please just send me a follow-up email. It’s possible I just overlooked it or it got lost in the abyss of my inbox.
