Taking Submissions: Shock & Appall: A Charity Anthology

| December 26, 2012 | 3 Comments

We are looking for stories that read like the anthology sounds. Everything from gorey horror goodness, wacky bizarro antics, pulpy crime, to noir fiction is welcome

Anthology Submission Guidelines:

Please include two stories between 1000-4500 each.
Use proper document format (12 pt. Times New Roman!).
Include a photo and small biography for your title page.

Shock & Appall will not be your typical anthology, nor will it be a creation of greed. Most anthologies have several stories each from an individual author. We want to change this idea. We believe anthologies should resemble something more like label music samplers, meaning each author will have 2-3 stories in the book. Why? Because this gives the reader a better chance to not just experience a genre, but the actual writers.

This will be Slit Your Wrist eZine’s very first anthology and it will be our chance to get the hang of publishing platforms. By contributing you support the idea of future anthologies coming out of the site. Ones that could be a paying market at that.

I have thought long and hard about a charity deserving of so much hard work and devotion. I couldn’t find a non-profit corporation that really had anything over another, or a lack of funds pouring in on a yearly basis. This is why, much like the idea of this anthology and the website itself, we will be doing something different…

The sales in paperback and kindle will not go to a cause of many, we will be focusing on the benefits of one. WorldVision offers a service to sponsor a child monthly, where less than $50 a month insures a child does not starve or go unclothed. It also has the option, if the future sales permit it, to provide supplies and enough food for the child’s entire family. The child will also become our pen pal, with a WorldVision staff member providing translation. Monthly I will transcribe these letters and email them to all the authors who participated to give everyone a chance to say something back.

Anyways, now that you know what we’re working for, it’s time you know what we are looking for. Shock & Appall’s stories will be just as it sounds. We are looking for dark fiction, horror, and bizarro stories to keep people on their feet or laughing all the way into the darkest depths of insanity. If you are up to this challenge and cause, then you better start writing or editing.

Submit stories here.
