Ongoing Submissions: The Red Asylum
PAYMENT: As a new magazine, we cannot offer payment at this time. We hope to be able to in the future, but right now, we do offer a great place to show off your wonderful stories!
The Red Asylum is an online magazine. Submissions are currently OPEN.
WHAT WE WANT: We want your dark, twisted, scary, crazy, or just plain strange stories. We are looking for original short fiction up to about 2000 words. We will consider longer works up to 4000 words, but it has to be fan-freaking-tastic.
We will also consider some poetry; however, only one or two poems will be published per issue, so send us your best! Poetry word limit is 1000.
WHAT WE DON’T WANT: Anything correlated with harming children in a sick, twisted way. Erotica/romance. Unedited works, riddled with spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors.
SUBMISSIONS: Submissions must be sent through submishmash (now named Submittables):
It is free to register there.
Please submit no more than one fiction story or two poems per submission. Also, please include a bio, written in third person, of about 100 words with your submission.
ARTWORK: We are looking for original artwork for cover art. Images can also be submitted via submishmash. We prefer creepy pictures over super gory/disgusting ones but try not to rule too much out. The only thing we really don’t want to see is nudity/erotic art.
PAYMENT: As a new magazine, we cannot offer payment at this time. We hope to be able to in the future, but right now, we do offer a great place to show off your wonderful stories!
RESPONSE TIMES: We try to give very quick responses; if you haven’t heard anything from us within 30 days, feel free to query. Also, please take time to report our response times on http://www.duotrope.com/.
RIGHTS: The Red Asylum accepts no liability arising from the publication of an author’s work. Authors retain copyright on all stories and artwork. We request electronic rights and the right to archive your work. Submission to The Red Asylum constitutes acceptance of these conditions.
Thanks for considering The Red Asylum for your story, and Good Luck!
