Taking Submissions: The Revengers

April 30, 2015

Deadline: April 30th, 2015
Payment: Minimum of 5% royalties after cost per story published

Think swashbuckling adventure with a mix of murder, mystery, fantasy and horror. Shakespeare’s tragedies meet Boccacio’s Decameron. Da Vinci’s Demons meet The Revenger’s Tragedy.

The Revengers will be an anthology (possibly running to a series) filled with gripping tales of conspiracy, treachery and revenge set loosely within the confines of Renaissance Europe. Edited by husband and wife team, David and Lesley McIntee, we’ve asked them to tell us a little more about what they’re looking for:

“We’re thinking that we’d define the Renaissance setting as being up to the Musketeers, just because there are a lot of Dumas fans, and that while Renaissance Europe (England, France, Italy, Spain) is the main setting, we could be persuaded by suitable stories bringing Renaissance elements elsewhere in the world – ambassadors, explorers, shipwrecked sailors etc…”

“Horror and fantasy elements are fine, but we’d recommend against zombied because we want to see feuds, vendettas and (most important) revenge.”

“We’d also caution against too many famous characters and Da Vinci’s Demons knock-offs.”

All stories should be new and original, sticking to the theme but including surprising and innovative elements.

We expect these anthologies will particularly appeal to writers of historical fantasy and adventure. Submissions should be sent to [email protected] as word documents or rtf files (NOT .docx)
